EFS at Download 2014

EFS is delighted to have completed its first involvement with the Download Festival. The event, organised by Live Nation, is the largest rock festival in the UK with crowds of over 100,000 flocking to the Donington Racetrack site. This year’s acts included Linkin Park, Rob Zombie and veteran rockers Status Quo. For the first time at Download, Live Nation’s production team made the decision to lay temporary flooring around the all toilet areas on the festival site. As a result, EFS was contracted to supply and install 1,900m² of our Temp-a-Path system in various configuration around the site’s toilets. A major benefit to using this modular system was its ability to match the contours of the ground, something that was crucial to ensuring a swift installation. At our own expense, EFS undertook the additional precaution of installing a geo-textile membrane beneath all areas of the Temp-a-Path to reduce the prospect of mud coming up from below and to help stabilise the flooring to ensure safe use. Our stock was delivered to a central location on the site using an articulated lorry, with sprinter vans then used to distribute the system to 14 points around the arena and campsite. The lightweight nature of the system allowed it to be manually installed by our team in just a single day, without the need for fixings or plant machinery at the final locations. The Temp-a-Path system was retrospectively laid once the toilets had been positioned, allowing our team to create safe access to, from and around the areas. Speaking about the company’s involvement, Business Development Manager Jeremy Simpson said: “Download is one of the biggest names on the festival calendar not just in the UK but worldwide. EFS is proud to have been involved in the event for the first time, but even prouder of our achievements. The festival’s official fan forums show that customers are praising the toilet areas as being the cleanest in the history of the event, and we are very happy to have played a part in that.”
