EFS at Wireless Festival 2014

For the first time in its history the 2014 Wireless Festival - headlined by Kanye West, Bruno Mars and Rudimental - was simultaneously split between two sites in London and Birmingham. Relocating from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the London part of Wireless 2014 was held in the famous Finsbury Park, with Birmingham’s Perry Park selected as its counterpart. Organised by Live Nation, the production team selected EPS’s Temp-a-Path to provide a temporary flooring solution around the toilet and VIP areas of the festival. EFS supplied and installed 1,820m² of the system to the London site, with 750m² deployed in Birmingham. The installation of Temp-a-Path helped to protect the parkland on both sites in what are high-footfall locations, whilst it also helped to maintain clean and safe access to the areas concerned. Geo-textile membrane was laid beneath the modular plastic system to help prevent the up-flow of mud in the event of heavy rainfall and to ensure the stability of the system during peak used. EFS Business Development Manager Jeremy Simpson highlighted how the expectations of festival-goers are influencing the production plans of organisers. “Year-on-year festival customers are becoming more demanding with the standards they expect on site. Similarly, organisers are looking for ways to improve the overall experience of their customers as they compete with other events in a crowded market place. This has lead to a growing number of event organisers searching for pedestrian flooring solutions, resulting in the increased activity EFS is experiencing this summer and the growing demand for our adaptable and versatile products.”
