EFS Europe Supports Inaugural Pedal Portsmouth Event

Over 3,000 cyclists enjoyed glorious September weather for the first ever Pedal Portsmouth event. Organised by the city council, over four miles of the city's roads were closed to allow cyclists the opportunity to enjoy traffic free riding.
EFS Europe supplied 2,100m2 of its Temp-A-Path™ product to the event, which allowed organisers to create 500 linear metres of temporary pathways across Southsea Park.
The park runs along the southern coastline of the city, and needed to be cost-effective, quick to install, and safe for the cyclists. With aluminium trackway ruled out as unsuitable, organisers turned to EFS Europe as they sought alternative flooring options to create the pathway.
A five-man crew installed the material two days before the event, with all 2,100m2 removed as soon as the event had finished.
EFS Europe Business Development Manager Jeremy Simpson said:
"This summer has seen our products used for several different cycling events. The benefits of using a plastic product instead of aluminium trackway are numerous, particularly the reduced risk of overnight theft due to the price of metals but also as it is safer for the riders should they come off and causes less damage to the ground it is laid on."
