The people of Leicester attended the annual Remembrance Day service on 14th November to honour members of the armed forces who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Military leaders, official dignitaries and representatives from different faiths gathered to pay their respects and to lay wreaths at Edwin Lutyens' Arch of Remembrance in Victoria Park near Leicester's city centre.
Specialist event flooring supplier EFS Europe once again played a significant part in the Remembrance Sunday event with its temporary flooring products installed in the city's park.
EFS Europe's installation team, of 8 crew members, delivered 2,700m2 of the company's Temp-A-Path™ flooring solution. The lightweight plastic product was installed to provide safe pedestrian access to the area irrespective of the weather conditions. It also provided a stable base for the 1,000 temporary chairs that were installed for the invited guests.
In addition, EFS Europe also installed its podium flat red carpet, which was laid on the Sunday morning with a protective plastic cover. This cover was peeled off at the last minute to ensure the carpet was in pristine condition for the start of the service.
All of the products were subsequently uplifted immediately after the service had ended by an EFS team of 7 men, with the park returned to normal within two hours of the service concluding.
The event was the city's first full Remembrance Day service since 2019, after last year's was scaled down due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Reverend Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester led the service, which began shortly before 11am - when the entire audience took part in a two-minute silence to remember the lives lost.
Jeremy Simpson, EFS Europe's Managing Director said "Supplying events in our home city is always special. My grandfather served in both the first and second World Wars within the Leicestershire Regiment, so from a personal point of view I was extremely proud to have participated in the service. Lest we forget." He concluded.
