The Lincoln Christmas Market 2021 was from Thursday to Sunday, 2nd to 5th December, throughout the day and into the night.
The award-winning market, now in its 39th year (since 1982) is one of the oldest and most popular markets around. With over a quarter of a million visitors, it is one of the biggest Christmas markets in Europe and EFS Europe has been involved in the festivities for 7 years.
Over 250 market stalls lined the streets around the city's stunning Castle, whilst twinkling lights lead visitors through Castle Square to Victorian themed traders selling a wide range of festive food and drinks alongside handmade crafts and stocking fillers; all of which is wrapped up in a friendly welcome.
This year, over 2,400m² of EFS's Temp-A-Path™ was installed within the historic city centre. The flooring, designed and manufactured by EFS, was supplied to protect the grounds within the castle from the massive crowds of visitors over the event's 4-day duration and also critically during the site construction and dismantling.
Due to the natural ground being wet already, EFS Europe also fitted its geo-membrane product beneath the Temp-A-Path, which helped to protect the ground from frost. The two-day build started on the 30th November with several vehicles used to deliver stock to the city centre before hand-trolleys were used to deploy pallets across the site. Forklifts were also used to take pallets in to Lincoln Castle, where the Temp-A-Path is used to protect the medieval buildings ancient surface.
Following the end of the event, a two-day uplift was undertaken to remove the flooring and return the city to normal.
EFS Europe's Managing Director, Jeremy Simpson said: "Lincoln has grown consistently and is one of the most sensitive sites we work on, so extra special care is taken when we work in and around the city's historic buildings. The fact that our products are made from lightweight plastic and the installation is done by hand means that the risk of causing any damage is greatly reduced. These factors have played an important part in why we are selected to provide the temporary flooring year-on-year. The Christmas Market gives visitors and residents a truly festive experience, with a traditional, high quality event for all the family."
