As night fell over Wakehurst, an enchanting trail filled with hand-crafted lanterns, mesmerising installations, and captivating projections wound its way through the wild woodlands and gardens. Glow Wild, returning for its eighth year, is hailed as Sussex's favourite winter event with a captivating and magical illuminated Christmas trail which is held in the county's famous Royal Botanical Gardens.

In 2021, EFS Europe were invited to install temporary flooring at the event for the second time. Extra car parking was installed as well viewing pads throughout the gardens, which were brought to life with glittering light displays, mesmerising projections, immersive soundscapes, and glistening torches of fire.

EFS was commissioned to install 1176m2 of Hex Road as an extra car park as well as 300m2 of Temp-A-Path with geomembrane to allow visitors to safely navigate the enchanting lantern trail.

The event, which took place on select evenings from Thursday 25 November 2021 to Sunday 2 January 2022 attracted close to 100,000 Christmas merrymakers. New for 2021 were major new light installations from award-winning artists and a brand-new Winter Lodge transforming the Elizabethan Mansion into a spectacular dining experience.

Towards the end of the Glow Wild trail, Wakehurst's 37 metre giant sequoia welcomed visitors as they returned from their winter adventure. Lit with 1,800 energy-saving bulbs, the giant redwood is the UK's tallest living Christmas tree, the perfect festive spot for hungry explorers to be rewarded with delicious treats and warming drinks over crackling firepits.

Speaking about the event, EFS's Managing Director, Jeremy Simpson said: "With Temp-A-Path already in use at Kew Gardens, the product had proven itself again to the event organisers who knew it would stand up to the anticipated heavy footfall. We supplied the flooring with geo-membrane to further protect the beautiful gardens. We were delighted to be asked to supply Glow Wild for the second year running, which was another knock out success."
