Lincoln Castle's enchanting Christmas Emporium, Saturday December 14th to Sunday 22nd December, is a spectacular Victorian inspired light show forming the centre of this magical event. Event Flooring Solutions was thrilled to be asked to supply its Temp-A-Path flooring system for the second time this year. The flooring is installed within the medieval walls of Lincoln Castle.
The event requires 3600sqm of Temp-A-Path to be deployed to safeguard the castle's grounds from the huge number of visitors. Temp-A-Path was selected due to its lightweight nature and the ability to install it within the confines of the medieval walls. With vehicle access being limited, it is essential that the flooring can be manoeuvred into situ by hand. Temp-A-Path was also selected due to its anti-slip properties; another essential factor given the Great British weather!
Mixing fairy story with local history and legend, the Christmas Emporium is a magical unfolding of newly imagined fairy tales, illuminating the Castle whilst discovering it anew. From Havelok the giant Viking hurling the huge stone which lands within the Castle walls, to Lucy, the 11th century Countess who ruled the lands, and the Dragonby legend, where a great dragon was turned to stone by a malevolent wizard. All are woven together in a festive fairy tale of visual storytelling to inspire and delight. The light show, repeated throughout the evening, is complimented by Christmas stalls, a cosy tipi bar, locally sourced food and drink and Santa himself.
"With Temp-A-Path already used at Lincoln Christmas Market, the product had proven itself time and time again and the organisers knew it would stand up to the heavy footfall! We supplied the flooring with geo-membrane to further protect the beautiful lawns. We were delighted to be asked to supply the event again, which is another knock out success for the city." Said Jeremy Simpson, EFS's Managing Director.

Lincoln Christmas Market is one of the oldest and most popular markets around, scooping award after award. With over 250,000 visitors, it is one of the biggest Christmas markets in Europe and EFS Europe has been involved in the festivities for the last 6 years. This year, over 2,500m² of EFS's Temp-A-Path™ was installed within the historic city centre. The flooring, designed and manufactured by EFS, was supplied to protect the grounds within the castle from the massive crowds of visitors over the event's 4-day duration and also critically during the site construction and dismantling.
Over 250 market stalls lined the streets around the city's stunning Castle, whilst twinkling lights lead visitors through Castle Square to Victorian themed traders selling a wide range of festive food and drinks alongside handmade crafts and stocking fillers; all of which is wrapped up in a friendly welcome.
The event's organisers chose EFS's Temp-A-Path™ due to its lightweight nature, and the fact that the product could be easily navigated within the Cathedral walls. The ability to install the Temp-A-Path™ by hand allows the organisers to keep heavy plant machinery to a minimum, reducing the risk of damage to property, roads or footpaths. Temp-A-Path™ was also used to protect the grassed areas, reducing the cost of post-event clean up and maintenance. The product was also selected due to its anti-slip properties and its ability to allow drainage of any excess water.
Due to the surface ground being naturally wet, EFS's Geo-membrane product was also installed beneath the Temp-A-Path™, helping to protect the ground from frost.
EFS Europe's Managing Director, Jeremy Simpson, said: "Lincoln has grown consistently and we are delighted to have the event as a regular feature on our own event calendar. The fact that our products are made from lightweight plastic and the installation is done by hand means the risk of causing any damage to the Hallowed castle lawns is greatly reduced. These factors have played an important part in why we are selected to provide the temporary flooring year-on-year. The Christmas Market gives visitors and residents a truly festive experience, with a traditional, high quality event for all the family."

Leicester's largest Remembrance Day service was supported by one of the city's own suppliers – EFS Europe Ltd…EFS marked its 6th year in a row supplying this year's Leicester City Victoria Park Remembrance Event with its Temp-A-Path flooring system.
Thousands of people from all over Leicestershire and beyond came together on Sunday 10th November to pay tribute to those that lost their lives during Service. A parade made up of members of the armed forces, veterans and cadets marched from De Montfort Hall, along Centenary Walk to the Arch of Remembrance shortly before the service started.
Having won a competitive tender for the contract back in 2014, EFS Europe were required to supply and install 2800m² of Temp-a-Path™ temporary footpath product this year, which was used to protect the parks natural grounds.
The 2019 service utilisedTemp-A-Path to create clean and clear access for the invited guests and visitors, including the Bishop of Leicester, the Right Reverend Martyn Snow, who led the service. The lightweight, interlocking plastic flooring system also provided a stable base for the thousands of chairs set out to accommodate the congregation.
In addition to Temp-A-Path, EFS Europe also supplied and installed 3 rolls of 3m x 30m of its high-quality Podium Flat carpet in a mahogany finish. The carpet was used to create a walkway from the seating area to the war memorial itself, providing guests with well-presented access to lay wreaths and pay their respects. The carpet was also used to cover the podium upon which a lone trumpeter played the last post. The carpet was installed with a protective plastic top-cover that remained in place until the last minute, ensuring the carpet was in pristine condition for the start of the event.
Installation of the Temp-A-Path took place on Saturday 9th November, with the carpet being laid on the early Sunday morning. The uplift was done immediately after the service concluded on Monday 11th November in the afternoon.
EFS Europe's Managing Director, Jeremy Simpson said:
"I've said many times before that despite working across the UK, supplying events in our home city is always special. My grandfather served in both the first and second World Wars within the Leicestershire Regiment, so from a personal point of view I was extremely proud to have participated in the service. The event had huge significance this year, which made it even more special for us to be involved. We were delighted with the outcome and very pleased to have returned the park to its normal state the Sunday afternoon."
He said. "Lest we forget." He concluded.

EFS Europe Keeps it Un-Slippy at Revival Festival
Revival Festival brought it's boutique heritage dance music festival from the 80's, 90's and Noughties to Maidstone's Mote Park on Saturday 28th September with a star-studded line up, including Slipmatt, Baby D, DJ Luck & MC Neat, N-Trance, Ratpack, Rozalla and Shades of Rhythm!
Commissioned by event organiser, Lucus Live, Event Flooring Solutions was employed to install 2000sqm of the company's specialist Temp-A-Path inside the Big Top style marquee. The product was installed alongside Geo-membrane due to the amount of party-goers bouncing up and down on the flooring for 8 hours solid; Geo-membrane prevents the flooring from becoming embedded into the ground beneath.
Jeremy Simpson, EFS's Managing Director said 'Festivals have changed over the years, with the average festival goer becoming more demanding about the standards they expect on site. Similarly, organisers are looking for ways to improve the overall guest experience. This has lead to a growing number of event organisers searching for pedestrian flooring solutions, resulting in the increased activity EFS is experiencing in this market and the growing demand for our adaptable and versatile products. We were delighted to be invited to work with Lucus Live for the first time and we look forward to working with them again next week and next year!"
EFS Europe Made Wilkommen at the UK's Ultimate Oktoberfest Tour!
Oktoberfest returned to Maidstone's MotePark on Saturday 5th October for another authentic Bavarian celebration!
Oktoberfest is the traditional popular folk festival that is celebrated in Munich at the end of September and beginning of October. Folk descend to the Beerhall Tent to engage in music, games, entertainment, food and singing. This festival was no different and included German food, live music from an authentic Oompah band, DJ performances and of course no October Fest is complete without vast quantities of Bier!
Working again with Lucus Live, EFS's Temp-A-Path was re-used following on from the venue's Revival Festival the previous week.
Jeremy Simpson, EFS's Managing Director said 'It just goes to show how hard wearing our Temp-A-Path is. In the first week, 1000s of ravers are jumping up and down on the temporary flooring for 8 hours and the following week, the same product is being punished by thousands of beer swilling revellers! It's testament to Temp-A-Path's resilience and suitability to do the job it was put down to do!"

EFS Europe Ltd rolled into Alexandra Palace's Panorama Room last week to install carpet into this prestigious venue. The contemporary structure strategically positioned within the elegant Victorian Facade next to the Great hall is used for a wide variety of events. The permanent marquee plays host as a VIP suite and is used for Christmas parties and many corporate functions.
EFS was commissioned by Alexandra Palace to install 1000sqm of its gel backed Club Carpet in anthracite grey into the Panorama Room. The hard-wearing carpet was last installed by EFS 5 years ago – an accolade to the carpet's durability, especially given the hundreds of annual events that are staged at the venue, with thousands to revellers punishing the flooring.
The installation took 3 of EFS's team 3 days to complete.
EFS's Managing Director, Jeremy Simpson said: "We have been working with Ally Pally for quite some time now, installing the carpet each year for the World Darts. We were delighted to be asked again to re-carpet the Panorama Room, the team at EFS work to a really high standard, which bears testament to us being invited back again."

EFS Europe returned to the Leeds & Reading Festivals for the fourth time this year to once again install temporary flooring to the artist and backstage areas.
Headlining the iconic festivals this year were the Foo Fighters, Bastille, 1975, the Blossoms and Twenty One Pilots.
The events took place from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August. EFS's team installed the flooring the week prior to the event, with the uplift taking place the day after the festivals finished.Over 1,000m2 of Temp-A-Path was used to create safe pedestrian access for artists and production staff. The product was deployed around the village of portakabins that are used as dressing rooms, and also to create clear access from those areas to the main stage. In addition, the Reading site used a further 100m2 of Temp-A-Path in and around the female toilet areas. EFS also supplied and installed the carpets within all of the artist dressing rooms.
Both festivals have increased the use of EFS Europe's plastic, interlocking flooring in the last four years, with the product's easy installation by hand giving it the ability to be retrospectively installed once all of the portakabins have been located in position.
Jeremy Simpson, EFS's Managing Director said: '"We were delighted be invited to work with Festival Republic again and we're really proud of how well the products have performed at both sites. Both the Reading and Leeds Festivals are significant parts of the British summer festival season and to play a part in them is a great marker for our company."

EFS Europe was delighted to help with a wedding with a difference and make the great outdoors accessible for even ladies in heels! The Richardson family contacted us with a little problem… How to convert an arable field into a suitable venue for a series of teepees and their 200 plus guests? After the cornfield was harvested, and with just a week before the wedding, concerns were raised over the condition of the ground, which is when EFS stepped in! An access road was required to the teepees for the wedding guests, catering outlets, generators and toilet blocks. EFS installed their Hex Road, a heavy duty roadway ideal for instant access and car parking at events.
The second part of the brief was to provide a safe, pedestrian friendly, aesthetically pleasing area in front of the teepees for a designated guest area. After being rolled by the farmer, the field was partially covered with 30m x 10m of Temp-A-Path to the front of the teepees and catering outlets. Following installation of the Temp-A-Path, the client decided they wanted the area to resemble an English country garden lawn; EFS then laid their Gadsby 33m pile height Astroturf on top of the Temp-A-Path for a stunning finish. The client then sold on the Astroturf after the event – perfect recycling!
