A Carpet for all Seasons – even the English Summer!
Posted: Tue, 11 Jun 2013 15:10
During the year we are asked for many different outdoor solutions and most recently this has included a carpet. The Royal Borough of Kensington organises a summer season of operas within Holland Park. Opera Holland Park is a summer Opera Company which produces an annual season of opera performances staged under a temporary canopy in Kensington’s Holland Park. This year’s events feature 5 operas including Puccini’s famous Madame Butterfly as well as a classic film season from The Luna Cinema Company. Each of these summer events attract several thousand visitors to the grandstand and general seating areas. EFS were asked to provide and install a range of carpets for the grandstands, stairs and outdoor decking areas. Recognising the traits of a typical English summer we were able to supply and fit carpets for both the indoor and outdoor areas. We selected our Podium flat velour carpet for over 1,200m² of indoor grandstands, stairways and associated areas. For the tricky part of the outdoor decking area we supplied and laid over 600m² of EFS Club stud backed carpet , This specifically designed product has a built in stud design which allows rainwater to simply drain away providing a constant and comfortable safe flooring. As a new project for EPS, we were delighted to provide assistance and make use of some of our special carpets. With recent English Summers we know that our Club carpet will look good no matter whatever the weather!

Ayrton Senna Tribute Floored By EFS At Donington Historic Festival
Posted: Sat, 11 May 2013 11:14
Working on behalf of Gl Events Owen Brown at Donington Historic Festival (May 3rd-5th) Event Flooring Solutions floored Structures with their Temp-A-Path Flooring to house 3 of Ayrton Senna’s car’s along with a selection of memorabilia in the Paddock for on-track demonstrations of cars which played a significant role in the career of the late triple World Champion. * From F3 to F1...
In 1982 Ayrton Senna won the British and European F2000 Championships, and was rewarded with a drive in the season-end F3 race in a Ralt RT3. He famously won the race, and that very RT3 was demonstrated on the track at the Donington Historic Festival. During his F3 Championship-winning season in 1983, Senna enjoyed his first-ever drive in an F1 car, testing Keke Rosberg’s Monaco GP-winning Williams-Cosworth FW08C at Donington Park. That very same FW08C was a star feature of the Donington Collection, and this important machine came out of the museum specially for the Festival. As a result of his impressive F1 tests in 1983, Senna moved into Grand Prix racing full-time in 1984, and his first Formula One race car - the famous 1984 Toleman TG-184-02 Hart turbo - was also displayed at the Festival. This is the car that Senna drove to a spectacular second place in the 1984 Monaco GP, overtaking Alain Prost for the lead but being robbed of his first Grand Prix win when heavy rain stopped the race the following lap. Also on display was the 1986 JPS Lotus Renault Turbo in which Senna won the US GP at Detroit. The young Brazilian started the race in pole position, but tyre problems saw him initially fall back to eighth place, with the race lead changing hands six times between five drivers before – equipped with fresh tyres – Senna carved his way through the field to take victory.

Postpone or Cancel? Not an option for your Daughter’s Wedding!
Posted: Sun, 10 Feb 2013 12:21
Late December’s wet weather caused many high profile events to be cancelled but not for a special wedding in Leicestershire. Event Flooring Solutions (EFS) were tasked to ensure that a wonderful wedding and reception took place no matter whatever the weather. Working with GL Events EFS quickly visited the sited for a survey to assess the topography and overall logistics involved – the brief was simple “This wedding has to take place – failure is not an option!” The on site survey showed that access was critical, the field was located along a narrow country drive which meant un-loading from normal transport onto smaller vehicles and by hand. EFS organised lighter vehicles and forklifts to provide the ideal access to the site co-ordinated by EFS staff. Initially the key criteria was to provide access across the field for the support staff of GL Events to unload the marquee structure and support facilities. Additionally vehicular access was essential for the suppliers and sub contractors to construct and service the wedding marquee, finally given the wet weather access and parking for the guests was requested. For this essential work EFS staff installed 1100m² of their Hex Road product - light, flexible and able to allow for heavy loads, this was ideal for both site access and protection of the ground beneath, also allowing an ideal work platform for support staff and vehicle standing. Hex Road was also used around the site as access to on site parking, given the flexibility of Hex Road EFS were able to install additional spurs off the main road way to provide and maximise the number of parking spaces available. As the continued heavy rain fell and with several last minute urgent phone calls, it quickly became apparent that additional protection was required for the field in which the cars were parked. Given that this was the “Friday before Christmas” and new stock was required on site, EFS managed to arrange for several small vehicles to collect and deliver new product direct to the site. EFS staff were contacted and arrived on site in time to install 700m² of their Temp-A-Road product to in-fill and provide a firm parking area within the road spurs. As a final touch, EFS arranged for both the Hex Road and Temp-A-Road to be cleaned using mechanical sweepers and individual jet washing from mobile bowsers with on-site staff. This beautiful event took place with no hitches from the weather and thanks to EFS they were able to “Spare the bride’s blushes”!
